this is not a bug per-se. Software gain & lose features all the time.
Default application selection questions can be raised on ubuntu

Shouldn't have the chat element in thunderbird

Bug description:
We have the chat button appearing in thunderbird since the end of
July. We already have an IM app, empathy, I don't think we should
showing another one.
Anyway, all chat configuration and buttons should be hidden for
quantal, I guess.
