Title: tapping touchpad moves cursor Status in “xserver-xorg-input-synaptics” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: On my acer timeline M5, when I tap on my touchpad, the mouse moves a little bit each tap. This can be reproduced by going to an area of the desktop and steadily tapping on the mousepad at a rhythm that would cause a single tap event. You can see that the mouse will move slightly during many of these tap events, which when trying to perform precise clicks (ex. closing tabs in a web browser, selecting text) may cause the pointer to move enough distance to cause an unintended mouse click. Suggested fix would be to not allow any x, y coordinate change when a tap is detected, otherwise allow the mouse movement (i.e. in the non- tap scenario).
