I have reported a bug of no sound on speakers or headphones on Ubuntu
12.10 for a Packard Bell EasyNote V7912, which is quite possibly the
same issue

Title:
[HDA-Intel - HDA Intel, playback] No sound at all

Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
The audio configurator sees only the analog audio out, and the SPDIF,
and no internal laptop speaker. Also, neither analogic or SPDIF work
(no sound outputted). The speaker makes 2 pops on boot, and on Windows
  it works.

  Thanks!
