Most anoying bug since 2007
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/eog/+bug/136740

And we are almost in 2013 With Ubuntu 12.10 and nautilus still cant comunicate
with the default image viewer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nautilus saves the sort order somewhere and there's a script created by
Qubit that adds 6 sort types that you can chose from the terminal.... If
i decided to come back to ubuntu i'll have to find the script and
somehow manage to link it to the file where the sort order is stored.

..... but i dont know why nobody did it in the last six years.

Qubit sort order script at the bottom of this link:

Title:
should use nautilus' file sorting preferences

Status in Eye of GNOME:
  Confirmed
Status in One Hundred Paper Cuts:
  Invalid
Status in “eog” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
There is no way to say Eye of Gnome to sort the pictures in another order
then alphabetic.
The best way would be if EoG would use the file sort option of nautilus
if this can not be changes easily an extra file sort option in EoG would be
great
