Title:
firefox cannot open file from network share

Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: firefox

Opening or saving to network share is not possible in Firefox. Could
someone please explain to me why opening/saving is not the same in
every application in Gnome? See also the bug I filled for Gringotts.
Because this is not the first time I have seen applications without
network shares being visible in the save/open dialog screen. Isn't it
like calling an object like save file and thus being the same
everywhere? Or is this a too simple view of how stuff works inside
  Gnome?
