I'm sorry to say, but for me it got *MUCH* worse with 17.0 now. Several times, messages are redownloaded, and when that's done, the activity window shows nothing, but Thunderbird still consumes 100% CPU power.
I deleted my whole ImapMail folder, to no avail.
