Yes, I agree with you.
5 years is a very long support. So, Canonical should have to think about 3.6.x
and future 4.a.b versions...

Title:
Ubuntu must have the last version of LibreOffice serie
Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
Opinion
Bug description:
Ubuntu 12.04 will be use during 5 years.
But, Ubuntu still keep an old version of LibreOffice in 3.5.x serie: 3.5.4
LibreOffice 3.5.4 was available since 30 May 2012.
Ubuntu upgrade to 3.5.4 in August 2012, because thera are a security bug.
The 18 October 2012, The Document Foundation give the last version of 3.5.x
serie: the 3.5.7.
This version (and the other version 3.5.5, 3.5.6) resolve some minor bugs and
give a better user's experience:
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Releases/3.5.5/RC1 (73 bugs)
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Releases/3.5.5/RC2 (15 bugs)
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Releases/3.5.5/RC3 (2 bugs)
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Releases/3.5.6/RC1 (60 bugs)
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Releases/3.5.6/RC2 (2 bugs)
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Releases/3.5.7/RC1 (50 bugs)
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Releases/3.5.7/RC2 (1 bugs)
203 bugs resolved
A lot of them resolve RTF (20) or ooxml's bug (17) or ODF's bug (6).
Ubuntu 12.04 must have LibreOffice 3.5.7 as a security package or if
it's not possible T_T, Ubuntu 12.04 should give LibreOffice 3.5.7 in
Updates package for someone who active blackport.
