Symbolic icons support
Status in “ubuntu-mono” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
Ubuntu does not use the Gnome/GTK symbolic icons mechanism.
If it did, we would not need separate ubuntu-mono-light, ubuntu-mono-
dark, and Humanity icon themes. -symbolic icons would recolor
themselves automatically when used on the menu bar and other color-
changing backgrounds.
