The problem seems to happen only on first run. Restarting empathy
removes the duplicate entries. Should be an easy fix for this.

  Empathy shows two entries for the same user on the local network under 
"Peoply Nearby". 
  e.g.
  User 1 and User 2 both have set up People Nearby profiles in empathy. User 1 
will see two entries for User 2 in his empathy window and vice-versa.
