Thanks Jono, are you supposed to have icons on both screens? Was it
working before? What did you update? Can you add some on the left
screen? Can you right click on the background there and get a menu or is
nautilus not working at all on that screen?

Bug description:
When plugging an external monitor into my laptop (and thus enabling
dual screens, not mirrored), I only see my desktop icons on the right
screen (left: external screen, right: laptop screen) and not on the
left (external) screen. See the screenshot attached.
Also, please note that I also experience a resolution bug - see
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-
intel/+bug/1083790 - you can see this in the screenshot too.
