Xubuntu 12.10 - just installed
Kyocera FS-1010 printer
Printer has stopped working after install. It worked immediately after
the install, and for a few days afterwards. It printed a test page and
at least one pdf successfully. Since then it has stopped working.
There's a pile-up in the print queue.
There is some history. Ubuntu has had problems with the Kyocera FS-1010
for years. Sometimes it worked fine. Then there would be an update and
it would stop. The last status was that it worked but it was veeeeery
slow printing pdfs.

Title:
Kyocera Mita FS-1010 driver is perhaps incorrect
Status in “foomatic-db” package in Ubuntu:
In Progress
Bug description:
Binary package hint: cupsys
I am assuming the problem is with CUPS since it has to do with
printing.
The Kyocera Mita FS-1010 greyscale laser printer's driver does not
actually work with the printer. The suggested driver is PostScript,
however, printing via that results in a page with some postscript
commands on it.
Instead of the FS-1010 driver, I installed the FS-1000+ driver which
uses pxlmono. This works perfectly with the printer. Both USB and
parallel ports worked.
Problem has been duplicated on several installations of Ubuntu, and
also in SuSE running Gnome. Since Ubuntu is my main OS, I'm reporting
the bug here. Problem exists in Dapper as well as Edgy.
Please consider replacing the current FS-1010 driver with the FS-1000+
driver so that when people select FS-1010 it works as expected.
