Title:
"Install additional software" button launches dialogue(s) which refers
to Python (2.7) as the calling application
Status in “rhythmbox” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Ubuntu version information:
Description: Ubuntu 12.10
Release: 12.10
Rhythmbox version information:
Installed: 2.97-1ubuntu5
Candidate: 2.97-1ubuntu5
Version table:

When I click the "Install additional software required to use this
format" button in the Preferences | Music window the spawned dialogue
boxes all refer to Python (2.7) as the triggering application, i.e:
"Required plugin could not be found
Python (v2.7) requires to install plugins to create media files of the
following type: Vorbis encoder"
I'd at least expect the name to be the application name (Rhythmbox),
or even better the X-GNOME-FullName key of the desktop file "Rhythmbox
Music Player".
These should probably be a separate bug report, but the following
issues also stand out to me:
1) the English in the "Required plugin could not be found" dialogue is a
little awkward
2) The media files type isn't actually a media file type, but the name of the
required software component.
Ideally the "not found" dialogue would read something like this
example:
"Required plugin could not be found
Rhythmbox Music Player needs to install plugins to create media files
of the following type: Ogg Vorbis but they were not found."
