B2 Dash Search Applications won't go away

Bug description:
Was running firefox and a terminal. Suddenly "Q Search Applications"
window covered 3/4 of screen and would not go away. Unity kept
flashing from one window to the next and could not enter commands in
the brief time a window was up. After 1/2 hour finally got windows to
shut down & rebooted.
