Unable to reboot or halt if guest is logged on

Bug description:
I have installed this ISO:
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/20121215/raring-desktop-amd64.iso on a
virtual machine on Virtual Box.
After having performed an install with a ext4 / and /home partition, I
created a folder on my desktop, browsed a couple of sites an tried to halt the
VM but after selecting the gear icon on the status bar and selecting halt or
reboot the VM would not halt or reboot, but will exit desktop session an go to
lightdm login window, I also tried to select the gear icon from login window
selecting both halt and reboot but the VM would do nothing.
Had to halt the VM from CTRL+ALT+F1 and use command line.
After rebooting I got only a black screen without any logon window, from
CTRL+ALT+F1 checked if lightdm started but it was in stop/waiting status.
Typed a sudo start lightdm, but all I got was a black screen.
