Hi, sorry for the delay, I've just had time to check your answers now. As I didn't get much of what you explained above (unfortunately I don't hear much in hardware-related issues), I tried something I found in the French Ubuntu documentation (see doc.ubuntu-fr.org/audio_intel_hda).
After retrieving the exact chipset of my sound card [Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03), STAC92xx, HDA Intel, **IDT 92HD73C1X5**], I had to edit the file /etc/modprobe.d/alsa- base.conf and add at the end the model of my hardware (a list of the available options at http://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/sound/alsa /HD-Audio-Models.txt), so that it gave "options snd-hda-intel model=dell-m6" (without the " "). After restarting, this fixed the issue, now I got perfect playback in both of my headphone outputs :-) Thanks for your support Raymond, I hope this will help somebody or get a following upstream!
