I just had this happen to me. From Nautilus (Ubuntu 12.10), right
clicked on an iso file-> open with Brasero. Blank CD in drive. Dialog
Estimating File size dialog displays, but never progresses.
Turns out some utility (Nautilus? Some add on?) had taken ahold of the
blank disk allowing you to drag and drop files to the blank disc for
later burning. As soon as i unmounted the blank disk, Brasero took off
and burned my image on the first try.
I'm sure there is some system setting that tells Ubuntu how to handle
blank disk insertion.. I never changed that from its default setting.
Hope this helps!
