Title:
SystemMonitor reports higher download and upload speeds than
  TransmissionBT

Status in “transmission” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I upgraded to Quantal 12.10 [64 bit] a couple of weeks ago. Since that
upgrade I have noticed a difference in the download speeds (at least
30kBps) and the upload speeds (at least 20kBps) between what System
Monitor reports and what TransmissionBT reports.

Under 12.04 there was NO such difference reported between System
Monitor and TransmissionBT. Same version of Transmission on both
  [transmissionbt-ppa version 2.72]

  What could be the cause?

I wonder if this is a security situation. Is my pc now in control by
  someone else?

There are NO aborts and the bit torrent client is operating
'normally', except I am getting less data.
