This still wasn't fixed by Adobe, after a year. As this issue is a major lack in flow and user experience, and it affects any program that uses file browser, I would suggest adding an options pane that allows enabling the preview pane, and changing the view (icon/list). This is a major user-experience bug, because of facebook - whenever I upload an image I need to memorize the picture numbers.
