Unity freezes on startup
Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
After switching on my computer and logging in to ubuntu(unity) the
first touch of a launcher icon freezes the machine such that a restart
is the only way out.
If on startup I log into gnome classic (which works fine) and
immediately log out then log into ubuntu(unity) --not switching off --
everything works as expected with a very pleasing result.
