Title:
Gimp disappears after switching or opening another application

Status in “gimp” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
As an example if I am in gimp and switch over to Google Chrome, and than try
to switch back again, Gimp disappears. If I than go to the application bar/task
bar and click on the icon for gimp (which has 3 arrows indicating there are 3
windows open) nothing happens. If I hold alt+tab I can see it in the menu and
when selected nothing happens.
When I right click on the taskbar icon and close the application and than
relaunch it, the GImp application appears as it should until I repeat the
process.
Opening any application over gimp will make gimp disappear, and never
reappear.. chrome was what I had open at the time as an example.
