A surprising result: I have connected two external speakers. I can hear now the sound after booting in 12.10 and also in Phonon by clicking on test for both devices 'Internes Audio Analog Stereo' and 'Rs880 HDMI Audio [...]...' but the sound comes always from the external boxes and not from the TV-set over the HDMI interface. In the Speaker Placement and Testing menu the Front Left and the Front Right button works with sound for the Sound Card 'Internes Audio' but not for the Sound Card 'Rs880 HDMI Audio [...]...'.
After rebooting 12.10 I cannot find these both devices in the menu device preferences but instead I find 'PulseAudio Sound Server', very strange! In 11.04 the situation is as follows: The sound comes from the TV-set or from the external speakers, but the Front Left and the Front Right button does not work at all. Can I give you some further Information in order to clarify these differences between 11.04 and 12.10? regards Am 08.01.2013 13:58, schrieb Raymond: > how about > > > speaker-test -c 8 -t wav -D hw:0,0 > > > the difference are > > 1) stream tag change from 5 to 8 > 2) mute switch at pin complex instead of audio mixer > 3) unsolicited event enabled for Jack detection > > > does the computer suspend and resume frequently ? > > > 13772.336106] ACPI handle has no context! > [13772.352066] PM: suspend of drv:snd_hda_intel dev:0000:01:05.1 complete > after 116.290 msecs > [13772.384152] PM: suspend of drv:radeon dev:0000:01:05.0 complete after > 148.301 msecs > [13772.384189] PM: suspend of drv:pci dev:0000:00:01.0 complete after 147.611 > msecs > [13772.560152] PM: suspend of drv:snd_hda_intel dev:0000:00:14.2 complete > after 324.010 msecs > [13773.203627] PM: suspend of drv:sd dev:5:0:0:0 complete after 970.699 msecs > -- > [13773.997179] PM: early resume of devices complete after 0.074 msecs > [13773.997467] snd_hda_intel 0000:01:05.1: setting latency timer to 64 > [13773.997535] usb usb8: root hub lost power or was reset > -- > [17333.020139] ACPI handle has no context! > [17333.036149] PM: suspend of drv:snd_hda_intel dev:0000:01:05.1 complete > after 116.762 msecs > [17333.036192] PM: suspend of drv:pci dev:0000:00:01.0 complete after 116.088 > msecs > [17333.240153] PM: suspend of drv:snd_hda_intel dev:0000:00:14.2 complete > after 320.455 msecs > [17333.697967] PM: suspend of drv:sd dev:5:0:0:0 complete after 781.076 msecs > -- > [17334.669183] PM: early resume of devices complete after 0.074 msecs > [17334.669488] snd_hda_intel 0000:01:05.1: setting latency timer to 64 > [17334.669542] r8169 0000:06:00.0: wake-up capability disabled by ACPI > -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to alsa-driver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1094526 Title: no sound at all since version 11.10 up to 12.10 Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: In 11.04 the sound is ok.
