Additionally, I’ve determined that another long‐standing problem is likely related to the above issue: I hear soft crackling and popping through analogue headphone output and HDMI output to amp/speakers and amp/headphones via Wine applications (such as those mentioned above).
Possibly related: Popping also seems to occur via MPlayer, though no crackling. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to alsa-driver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1087140 Title: Audio through Wine momentarially drops out Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Occurs consistently in the same locations of audio streams decoded from FLACs/MP3s through foobar2000. Also, performing unrelated tasks will sometimes cause similar dropouts (e.g. perhaps simply scrolling up and down a webpage or changing tabs in Firefox). The audible dropouts last about a second. Also occurs in other applications that utilise Wine (e.g. Caesar III). Has been an issue since I did a clean install of Ubuntu 12.04 from 11.10, and still with 12.10.
