Same problem here. I tried going from avi/Xvid to NTSC at 16:9 aspect ratio, also tried the same thing already converted to mpeg/NTSC at the same aspect ratio. Freezes at about 95 of 3240 MB for me. Using Ubuntu 12.10, 64 bit.
