Thanks for the bug report. It seems this bug was reported during the
time when Ubuntu 12.04 was under heavy development so it may as well be
just a bug of that time given there has been no further event of this
bug. Is that still an issue for you?

Title:
  transmission-gtk crashed with SIGSEGV in magazine_chain_pop_head()

Status in “transmission” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Transmission would not let me choose a location on another partition.
  I selected in but in the destination folder it still said (None). I
  started the torrent anyhow. The previous torrents I completed also
  could not find the data location. It crashed shortly after.
