Setting Gnome Mplayer to be the default video player doesn't do
anything. Videos are still open in Totem when double-clicked.

Title:
  "Default Applications" not being applied

Status in “gnome-control-center” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Ubuntu 12.04 using Unity:

When you set the "Default Applications" these settings are not applied
properly. For instance, I set "VLC media player" as the default for
"Video" but when I double-click on any video file it gets opened by
  Totem instead.

Also the option "A Wine application", shown if Wine is installed, does
  nothing.
