Programs hang often when playing sound

Bug description:
Programs that use the sound device for a long time (rhythmbox,
spotify, totem, etc.) tend to hang. First I thought it was the
programs themselves being buggy, but then I did "pulseaudio -k" and
everything started working again (after skipping to the next song).
