Whenever emacs doesn't respond, I use my mouse to click "File", then
click "File" again, and then I get back my emacs. It is very annoying,
enough to stop me using emacs altogether.

Same thing happens to me too, and I think it's been like this since more
than a year ago. It's 2013 January, and I still experience this often
times in my VMWare virtual machine with Ubuntu 10.04 x64.

Title:
  emacs freezes after moving window

Status in “emacs23” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Hi I am running Ubuntu 10.04.4, with Emacs version 23.2.

Occasionally, when I start a new emacs window from the terminal, and
then move the window, emacs freezes. I am unable to click on anything
or edit anything. When this happens I close the window and open it
again. This doesn't always happens, and I think it happens most when I
open the window and do not type or edit anything before I move it. I
think if I click anywhere on emacs or scroll down or make any edits,
and then move the window, I don't have this problem.

This is not the end of the world, as it works enough for me to be able
to use the program. That being said, this is very annoying, and I
would really like to solve it.

  Thanks,
  Zack
