Public bug reported: when using software center to install an app, the screen locks up, but the system responds to mouse and keyboard input.
scenario1 1 open dash>applications lens 2 right-click a not-installed app to open preview 3 click the downlaod button 4 type password, press enter result 5 password dialogue doesn't close, but flickers. 6 screen is frozen nothing responds to mouse hover. 7 i can press ALT+F2 and type 'xkill' and press ENTER blindly. the cursor changes to an x 8 i click unity panel, and compiz restarts. 9 the app has or has not been installed. ymmv scenario2 1 start Software-center 2 choose app and click install 3 type password and press enter 4 software center installs the app, but freezes at the end. 5 the process icon flickers, and the screen locks up like above. in both cases only killing compiz unfreezes the desktop.
