Title:
pidgin crashed with signal 5 in sendmsg()

Status in “pidgin” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
Many of the times I start Pidgin it will wait a short while with a
blank screen before darkening and then remaining unresponsive. If I
keep at it, eventually one of them will work but generally after some
time (hours, days) up it will go dark and I'll need to try again.

Attached is some output from pidgin -d. Annoyingly the first time I
thought to strace it it worked, so I'll come back with that output (if
it's useful) next time it fails.
