Session starts, unity established, firefox icon shows on sidebar.
Click Firefox icon and it does not show a window.
Open terminal and use
$ killall firefox
$ firefox
Now firefox launches and shows a window.
Now the launcher on the side bar will work.
Until you start a new session!
