On GNU/Linux do not use the ‘pulse’ device with the ALSA Audio API.
This is an emulation layer for ALSA provided by PulseAudio and results
in very poor performance. Make sure to run Mixxx using the pasuspender
tool on GNU/Linux distributions that use PulseAudio.

Title:
big sound (driver) problem: jumps to mono playback

Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  I use Windows 7 on a notebook.
The playback quality during low level signals (of the source) is very bad.

Maybe it appears not at once. But it will surely happen if you use another
sound application like Winamp parralely.
If I playback with Winamp a classical track with more silent parts everything
is fine.
But if I load MIXXX now then it happens:
loud parts are okay but more silent parts 'dive' into mono playback and less
treble.

It is good to hear via head phones!
