Title:
  graphics display error

Status in “xserver-xorg-video-intel” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I'm not a technical person. I've recently upgraded to 12.04 Then
shortly after that I couldn't play videos. The players would either
crash or not display the video, only the audio. I've filed two bug
reports for vlc without getting anywhere so far. Now I just ran
checkbox-gtk and I was told that the graphics deisplay test failed.
Hopefully there lies the problem for all my recent system troubles.

I'd like to mention one more symptom. Since this error thing appeared
sometimes all cpu is used, which is not normal at all even though I
have a very weak cpu. Xorg alone would consume 40% of the cpu.

That's all I can think of. I suppose you will be able to locate the
two previously filed vlc bug reports since there were some attachments
to those that you might want to look into,

Let me know if I need to do anything else. Perhaps this is a hardware
error and there's nothing you can do (and no problem related to
  ubuntu/xubuntu),
