Title:
Xorg crashes in Precise with Dual Screens

Status in “xserver-xorg-video-ati” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
After a fresh install of 12.04 beta 1 on my system, running an AMD
Radeon HD 6950 with dual 1920x1280 displays, by default the video
output was set to mirror displays. When changing the configuration
settings in the 'Displays" option in the system settings, Unchecking
the mirror displays box would almost always result in a glitchyness
and often freezing. When trying to rearrange displays in the
"displays" menu it would ALWAYS result in my desktop freezing and
  having to force a reboot.

After 6-7 attempts at trying to get my displays configured properly,
they now have the proper orientation and settings, but it is very
fragile. (for proper orientation I had to physically swith the DVI
connections on my video output) If I try to use the Dash on the second
screen, 4/5 times it will glitch, and my screens will start flashing
white until the desktop is completely unusable, and I must force
  reboot.

I would also like to note that I tried to do an upgrade from my 11.10
desktop, but was immediately met with freezing when trying to log into
my desktop. I believe it was due to my having my orientation settings
set to monitor 2 on the left and monitor 1 on the right. These
settings seem to always crash the 12.04 desktop, and I believe the
settings being transfered from 11.10 lead to constant freezes when
trying to log into 12.04 desktop.
