Public bug reported:

Exactly the same behavior described at:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/84505/comments/30

Let me elaborate.

* Alsamixer works right. It controls Master, Master Mono and PCM.
* Unity Sound control and multimedia keys are completly broken.

Detailed description:

Open a terminal and run alsamixer.
Starting from Mute (Alsamixer slides: Master=0, MasterMono=0, PCM=0)

1st press on VolumeUp -> MasterMono=51, PCM=25
2nd press onVolumeUp -> Master=4, MasterMono=100, PCM=56 (Believe me, Sound
Sucks!)
3rd to 10th -> Master 16, 28, 40, 51, 60, 75, 87,100 (However GUI slide still
at around 60%)
11th to  16th -> PCM 60, 70, 75, 81, 93, 100

Now AlsaMixer shows: Master=100, MasterMono=100, PCM=100

Let press VolumeDown:

1sto to  6th presses-> PCM=93, 87, 81, 75, 65, 60  (??)
6th press -> Master=93, PCM=56
7th to  14th -> Master=81, 70, 60, 47, 34, 22, 12, 0 (At this point GUI slide
shows around 10%, however PCM=65 and MasterMono=100)
15th -> MasterMono=28 !!!, PCM=10 !!
16th -> Mute all

As you can imagine Unit y volume control and volume multimedia keys are
unusable on this computer.

TIA.

Pelayo González
