I have found the same bug on debian wheezy b4. Totem (3.0.1) caused strobing severe enough to make me feel slightly ill. I imagine this could be dangerous! Reported at debian also. File a lame encoded mp3 with embedded albim art jpg. intel hd400 chipset amd64. I'm guessing this is application level bug.
