Title:
indicator-messages does not properly mark messages as read in Pidgin
Status in “pidgin-libnotify” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Binary package hint: indicator-messages
Setup:
Ubuntu 10.10 amd64, upgraded from 10.04 (is affected as well)
pidgin 2.7.3-1ubuntu3 (from Maverick repository)
indicator-messages 0.3.11-0ubuntu2 (from Maverick repository)
In the Pidgin configuration dialog, the option "Hide new IM
conversations" is set to "Always" and "Show system tray icon" is set
to "Never", "New conversations" is set to "Separate IM and Chat
windows".
Currently, when an incoming message is received in Pidgin, the
respective sender is shown in the message indicator and when clicking
on this entry, the conversation window will open minimized.
Subsequently, if you bring the contact list to front, you can see the
sender's name is still bolded. If you then double-click the bolded
contact, another conversation window for that contact will pop up
despite one already opened. Additionally, the formerly opened
conversation window will totally grey out, i.e. all visual control
elements disappear from it.
When selecting the entry from the message indicator and thus bringing
up the conversation window, the respective contact's name should not
be bolded and double-clicking it should not open a redundant
conversation window - instead maximize the already existing window as
this is the current behaviour of this operation.
