You should check your power settings and make sure you have the newest
release of Firefox. I attemped to repeat this bug and was not able.
This is not so much a bug but is the normal function of your sleep
settings in Ubuntu. I have watched many flash videos in firefox and the
power did not turn off for me, so I understand your frustration. If you
continue to have the problem why not use appport so you can give a dump
so we can better help you solve this problem.

Title:
Watching a video in Firefox counts as being inactive, so the screen
  turns off

Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I was watching the videos here:
  http://spoonyexperiment.com/2012/08/11/ultima-9-ascension-finale/ ,
when the screen suddenly (albeit gradually) turned off. Apparently the
number of minutes specified in the Brighness and Lock settings panel
had elapsed, so to save power Ubuntu turned off the screen. The
problem is: watching a video IS an activity. I don't know whether it
is only Firefox, or it happens with other browsers as well. Totem is
clearly not affected by this problem.

I'm on Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS. Firefox is at version 18.0.1.
