Intel hardware has never support dual-link DVI, so you will be limited
to a single channel unless you use an alternate interface like DP.

Title:
Problems with resolution
Status in “xserver-xorg-video-intel” package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
My screen is a Dell 27" Ultrasharp display with 2560 x 1440 in native
resolution.
When starting the installer {and also the installed OS for the first time},
the resolution is 740(?)x400. Most config-applications have more information
than what fits on 400 pixels in height. Which makes it really hard to change
the resolution, one has to guess how many tabs to press before pressing enter.
In addition: The highest resolution found by default is 1680x1050 or
something. No resolution matching 2560x1440 is available. I'm guessing
that is the problem: first check the ratio, then find the highest
available resolution matching that ratio or something.
