To properly describe the problem, there is a terrible "humming" sound in anything I record. I've tried lowering the volume on the input all the way down to below "unamplified" and the horrible noise remains, though its quieter.
I have a rarely used copy of Windows on this machine, and if I boot into that, I can record and it sounds great, so the problem is not faulty hardware. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to pulseaudio in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1126797 Title: [HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC, IDT 92HD81B1X5, Mic, Top] Background noise or low volume Status in “pulseaudio” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I do not believe it is an issue with the hardware, because I tried dualbooting into Windows 7 and was able to record sounds without any of these issues at all.
