Title:
E4310 Notebooks do not support 4:3 resolutions without stretching

Status in “xserver-xorg-video-intel” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
It seems like the 1024x768 resolution is only available while
stretching the image on the laptop display, which leads to skewed
  images and quite unreadabl fonts.

it should have an option to use 1024x768 and have black borders to the
  left/right.

the 4:3 resolution is needed when presenting with a beamer, because
the resolutions of the two output devices must match to be able to see
the same image on the laptop and on the external VGA. But the only
option to do a beamer presentation involves a skewed image on the
  laptop display.
