Set this bug to Bjoern. He is the maintainer for LibreOffice in Ubuntu.
Maybe he knows the problem.

While I have never experienced this problem with LibreOffice under
Ubuntu, I have an idea. You seem to be using Arial, a MS proprietary
font, as your UI font. I have observed that these fonts disappear from
the UI if I don't give proper permissions to the font files. You may
want to check file permissions with your file manager.

Title:
entries in menu bar not visible

Status in LibreOffice Productivity Suite:
  New
Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
In all applications of the Libre Office package the entries of the
menu bar (like "File", "Edit", "Format", etc.) are not visible but
clickable. Even the hotkey characters are underlined.

I tried to fix it by changing the font rendering options in the Libre Office
settings after i read about it in other bug reports. It didn't fix the problem.
Last thing i tried as changing the fonts used by Gnome regarding font type,
size and aliasing.

I would be glad to fix this because it makes Libre Office unusable.
