Title:
Thunderbird hangs every few minutes, blocking any access

Status in “thunderbird” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Thunderbird hangs every view minutes for a longer time (up to 10
minutes), not reacting to any keypress, not updating any of open
windows. CPU-Usage is at 100%, only one or two of the various threads
running have CPU-usage of together 100%. All other threads are
  sleeping.

After about 10 minutes Thunderbird is working as if it never had have
a problem, for the next quarter of an hour. Sometimes shorter,
sometimes slightly longer. Than it starts working again on something
  in the background.
