I've got the same problem as Sergio, I'm using 12.04. I can launch pidgin from the email/gwibber/chat area but when i search the unity dash, it doesn't show up. I've i start it through the chat area, it will launch and the icon will disappear. But if I fix it to the unity bar and restart, he gets removed... I don't know why
