i have also upgraded all packages to the latest versions as of today...
(i.e. apt-get dist-upgrade)

screen goes stand-by if i choose 1280x1024 resolution

Bug description:
im using 1024x768 resolution.
at the login screen, screen is at 1280x1024 but it changes to 1024x768
when logged in
if i try to switch to 1280x1024, screen goes stand-by and theres no
way to restore it (locally, system is still up and i can log in
remotely) but pressing power button and shutdown & boot up again
