Thanks Till for caring. As of Mar 03, I cannot reproduce the problem any
longer. Whatever caused the difference in rendering, it has been fixed:
All results look the same, LaTeX's produced PDF, print preview, and
print-to-PDF.

I will close this bug as invalid. If it ever reappears, I will reopen
this report. Until then let's hope it was a temporary problem.

Regards,
Rüdiger

Title:
hpcups messes up space after exclamation mark

Status in “evince” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid
Status in “hplip” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
The two screen shots attached document that the hpcups printer driver
messes up spacing after explanation marks in inacceptible ways.
Attached is a secreenshot of (a) the screen rendering of a TeX-
produces PDF, and (b) the print-preview of the very same PDF (and this
is exactly what you'll get printing this document).

  Observe:
  - in the screen rendering, theres appropriate whitespace after the
exclamation mark.
  - in the print preview (and also in the actual paper printout), whitespace
after the exclamation mark has been removed, rendering the printout unusable.
