Same behavior on raring with nvidia drivers 304.84, but it's not only a
blank screen: the video output if switched off. Please note that the tty
is working underneath, if I login and type reboot, it works... so it
seems to be a video issue.

If I remove quite splash from grub as someone suggests, I cannot even
switch to tty anymore (it remains on desktop).
