Title:
Steam fails to install due to dependencies
Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
I recently had to reinstall my system but when it came to installing
Steam in the software centre I had some trouble...
I searched for steam. The top result has the steam logo and appears as
'Steam (64-bit) (already purchased)'. When I try to install it I get
this error:
Error: Package dependencies cannot be resolved
This error could be caused by required additional software packages which are
missing or not installable. Furthermore there could be a conflict between
software packages which are not allowed to be installed at the same time.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
steam64: Depends: steam (= 1.0.0.27ubuntu1) but it is not going to be
installed
Most of the time this causes Software Centre to crash as well.
If I show 'technical items' I can install the package 'steam:i368' and
it works fine but 'steam64' has the same error as installing the top
result that has the logo.
Please see log attached.
