I agree with you Max, and we shouldn't have to get used to it. @Bilal Empathy and xchat are quite different. Xchat is just an IRC client and when you go there you expect IRC windows to be opened when you join a particular room. Empathy, on the other hand has a general log in to all IM channels the user has defined and is not at that time joining a particular room. Maybe Empathy should defer logging in to IRC servers until the user joins a room.
