I was able to make it work by making the following config file changes:
sudo nano /etc/cups/cupsd.conf
Browsing On
BrowseLocalProtocols cups
sudo nano /etc/cups/cups-browsed.conf
BrowseRemoteProtocols cups

Since upgrading to quantal the "Show printers shared by other systems"
box is greyed out under the print settings. There doesn't seem to be
any way to change this.
