[Lucid] External monitor does not work on a Toshiba Tecra M9

Bug description:

When booting without an external monitor connected to a Toshiba Tecra
M9 laptop and then connecting one, nothing appears on the monitor.
When opening the Monitors application, the external monitor is
detected but nothing appears on the monitor. However, the desktop does
seem to span across both the laptop and the monitor as observed by
scrolling the mouse to the right of the laptop.
When booting with an external monitor, the desktop appears across both
the laptop and the monitor. Then, disconnecting and reconnecting the
monitor keeps this configuration and keeps working.
